I created this short video to honor my favorite American Art Nouveau artist Louis Comfort Tiffany & Co. who created the Chittenden Memorial called 'Education' at Yale University from 1889-90.

The 30' panorama stained-glass window portrays an allegory of angels identified by their halos and surrounded by their ideas, values and virtues, learning in peaceful harmony as they are guided by light, love and life.

Panel I: Angels of 'Art', 'Form', 'Color' and 'Imagination" followed by 'Perception'.
Panel II: Angel of 'Analysis'
Panel III: Angels of 'Light', 'Love' and 'Life' guide 'Science' and 'Religion' in harmony. The angels personifying 'Science' are 'Devotion', 'Labor', 'Truth', 'Research' and 'Intuition'. The virtues representing 'Religion' are 'Purity', 'Faith', 'Hope', 'Reverence' and 'Inspiration'.

Panel IV: Angel of 'Law'
Panel V: Angels of 'Music', 'Rhythm', 'Melody', 'Harmony', 'Verse' and 'Voice.

Yale alumni Simeon Baldwin Chittenden, was broken father who lost his daughter Mary Hartwell Lusk at the early age of 32, who funded the Yale library (now known as Linsly-Chittenden Hall) and commissioned his friend and relative Tiffany to create Education in her honor.

As a teacher researching information about the glass arts for my "Art Appreciation" website and loving what I do, I was really inspired by 'Education' because it represents my own personal/teaching philosophies. I hope you are inspired too!

For the best viewing experience, maximize your screen and update your video quality settings to 1080p HD.

Thank you for watching! What are your thoughts?
